CHRISSY CAMPOS HOWARD

Principal & Director of Research

Chrissy is the founder of Learning For Better and an experienced educator, principal, researcher, collaborator, coach, and leader. She has degrees in Math, Science, and Elementary Education from Boston University’s Wheelock College of Education & Human Development and  a master’s degree from Harvard University Graduate School of Education in Learning and Teaching. 

 

Chrissy brings a very analytical approach to her work and has over 18 years experience working in urban education and leading mission-based initiatives. She has a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Study from Simmons University in Urban Elementary Education. She has been honored with the Grinspoon Foundation’s Pioneer Valley Excellence in Teaching Award. Chrissy has led strategic planning for the redesign of charter schools, to develop public school improvement plans, and directed mission-based programs and budgets utilizing liberatory and human centered design. 

 

Chrissy leads equity work in research and training. Currently a researcher and PhD student at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, her academic pursuits include mixed methods and qualitative research in education and nonprofits with a focus in language, literacy, and culture. She designs professional learning opportunities for educators and leaders that innovate in inclusion methods and are grounded in critical practices. 

 

Chrissy cares deeply about authentic and inclusive leadership. She is a dedicated community volunteer for women and girls, with experience as former Chair of Governance for the YWCA of western MA board and volunteers for Girl Scouts for over 30 years. She has worked closely with statewide organizers to advocate for access to child care for families across the commonwealth, and was awarded a Massachusetts Coalition for Social Justice/Common Start Coalition of MA Grassroots Activist Award. She has served on boards and committees of higher education institutions, local nonprofits, and cultural institutions. She has been recognized for her community contributions as one of Business West’s 40 under 40.
